Monday, January 21st is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will take the day off from school to honor the life and work of Dr. King; a life dedicated to service and giving back. In honor of this influential leader, we are asking students to accept the challenge to actively engage in an hour or two of service on this day.
Service comes in all shapes and forms: Students could donate an hour or two to a local service organization such as FISH or the HRV Senior Center, visit with residents at a local senior center, help a neighbor with yard work, offer free child care to a young family, or help at the HR library.
If you are away for the long weekend, this is a wonderful opportunity to find ways to contribute in a different community - students could lead their own beach clean-up, donate time to a local chapter of the red cross or a local animal shelter.
